A gentle revolution

The start of this month signals a very gentle turn in the wheel. We notice the first snowdrops (a very welome sight after the long Winter) and perhaps a stirring of hope towards more light and the returning of the sun. Since we're talking about the moon, it's also worth noting that this shorter month sees fewer lunar phases and therefore the full and new moon feel a little more poignant. The overarching theme to this month's moons is to begin a gentle awakening, preparation and a taking the time to notice what works for you and what doesn't.

🌕1st February - Full moon - Snow Moon and the eve of Imbolc ( St Brigid’s day) cross quarter festival marking the midway point between Yule and Spring Equinox. The earth is stirring and preparing to awaken.Self expression and creativity can feel welcome over these days. Your dreams start taking shape you can be bold.Be brave and courageous - Arm balances, be playful, meditate on what your yoga practise gives you courage to do and step into. It can be a good time to be less serious with yourself and the world. Take a step back and see the full picture.

🌓9th February - Last Quarter Moon - Pruning has begun. Re-connect with practises that really work for you and support your body rather than what you think you should be doing. It's a perfect time to make your yoga practise your own and reclaim what serves you, especially if life feels like it's been getting in the way lately. If you are shifting into a different phase of life (pre/post partum, reclaiming yourself, perimenopause, menopause) seek out parts of your yoga practise that can support these transitions and create the conditions for renewed strength and a place to thrive. It’s time to take what you need and let go of what isn't working quite as well.

🌑17th February - New Moon Motivation and inner enquiry. Preparing for growth is not about taking action but laying the foundation. Remind yourself to be patient, to trust the process. Meaningful change can't always be seen immediately but it may be just below the surface ready to break through. Keep going and become comfortable with being a little uncomfortable. We've all hit a wall at one time or another when it comes to personal growth and goals. Use this time to rest and re-set to reignite your motivation. Perhaps you love the process of planning but struggle with the execution. Cultivate more compassion for yourself and in turn, others. Ask the questions:What motivates you? Do you find saying no a challenge? How might you be able to plan, uphold your personal boundaries and see meaningful progress in your yoga?
